Basics of Buddhism

Dungse Jampal Norbu introduces the practices of self-reflection and kindness that lay at the heart of the Buddhist path. Self-reflection allows us to take responsibility for our minds through introspection, yielding perspective rather than reaction, wisdom rather than ignorance. Kindness is common to all spiritual traditions, and Buddhism makes a specific argument about its relevance to our own happiness: the more we put others in the center of our care, rather than our small self, the happier we become.

Dungse Jampal Namgyel, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche's son and Dharma Heir, sees Buddhism as a practical set of skills that contribute greatly to our ability to live a full and compassionate life. His humor, insight, and experience as a modern Western person allow him to pinpoint the relevance of the Buddhist teachings to the range of life's experiences.
