Technology has drawn us closer together, but it has also pulled us farther apart. It is easy to connect with friends thousands of miles away, while on the other hand remain indifferent to others, who may only appear as blips on a screen. To have compassion in the digital age means to return to the fundamental connections we all share; it asks us to understand how empathy and kindness can serve as a foundation to our lives, so that they are enhanced by the unusual connectivity of our new age, rather than overtaken by it.
