Increasing Our Longing to Help Others: Teachings for the Modern Day Bodhisattva

An Intimate Fundraiser Retreat for the Sangdo Palri Temple

Tickets for this event are sold out.

A natural sense of well-being arises when we long to help others with an altruistic mind. Altruism is the best form of kindness because it dissolves the tightness in our chest that comes from a narrow sense of self, allowing a positive feeling to flow out in all directions. Join renowned Buddhist teacher Pema Chodron as she spends two days exploring how we can cultivate this expansive, awakened quality of mind known in Sanskrit as bodhichitta. Using the Tibetan Buddhist text The Way of the Bodhisattva as her guide, Ani Pema will give special attention to cultivating bodhichitta in our modern day lives, encouraging us to connect with the very best of ourselves in order to help others do the same.

This retreat will be held in the tranquil and uniquely intimate setting of Pema Osel, the 300-seat Buddhist center in Vermont that was established by one of her teachers, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche.

This Is a Fundraiser Retreat

Ani Pema has graciously offered to use all proceeds of this program as a fundraiser for constructing the Sangdo Palri Temple of Wisdom and Compassion in southern Colorado. According to Tibetan tradition, Sangdo Palri is the residence of Padmasambhava, one of the greatest figures of the Nyingma lineage. But in essence, this temple is a physical representation of our own enlightened nature, a place where the blessings of awakened mind are vivid and transformative, and from where positive energy will radiate throughout the world, benefiting countless living beings.
