NSS will be virtual this year, taking place over three weekends in July. The Three Yanas of Tibetan Buddhism The Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana flow together as one path but represent distinct stages of awareness. In the Hinayana we discuss topics such as the transitoriness of life, which inspires us to make practice our essential priority. In the Mahayana, we explore how we and others are the same in our wish for happiness and desire to avoid suffering, which inspires us to dissolve our self-centeredness and develop a soft an open heart toward others. In the Vajrayana, we discover the power of devotion to deepen our path and follow in the foot steps of the lineage masters. Together these three yanas follow the logic of the Four Noble Truths, the Buddha’s crystal clear observation of how samsara works, and that there is a path to liberation. Our Teachers With unflinching candor, deep appreciation, and the passion of bodhicitta, Kongtrul Rinpoche, Dungse Jampal Norbu, and Elizabeth Mattis-Namgyel present different aspects of the three-yana path during this three-weekend program. The first weekend is devoted to the Hinayana, the second to the Mahayana, and the third to the Vajrayana. We are delighted to also welcome special guest teacher, Ani Pema Chodron, who generously donates the proceeds of her talk to support Mangala Shri Bhuti.
