Mahayoga Sadhana Retreat

Mahayoga Sadhana Retreat (previously called Sangdrup)

Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche will lead the Mahayoga Sadhana Retreat online. Similar to the online tsok practices, formal MSB lineage disciples are welcome to attend the retreat this year through Zoom. The retreat will be broadcast from Pema Osel, where Rinpoche will lead the practice with a small group of essential personnel.

During the 2018 NSS and last summer at Pema Osel, Rinpoche bestowed the empowerment for Chime Pakme Nyingtik, “The Heart Essence of the Sublime Lady of Immortality.” We will begin this year’s Mahayoga Sadhana Retreat with three days of this practice. The following four days will be similar to the Sangdrup programs we’ve had at Pema Osel since 2009. We will practice the Rangjung Peme Nyingtik sadhana (a terma discovered by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche) along with the Riwo Sangcho (a practice for purifying karmic debts). An important part of these practices is the feast offerings we make every day. This practice of "great giving without holding back" reverses our habitual self-centered psychology and can thus enable practitioners to overcome even our most tenacious obstacles.

This program is open to everyone who has gone through the MSB Lineage Ceremony. It is preferable, but not required, to have received the empowerments for these practices. If you can't join the online practice, you can still share the merit of these feast practices by making a prayer request and an offering (links coming soon).

To participate in the Mahayoga Sadhana Retreat from home, follow these 3 steps:

1 ) Register here
There is no fee to register for the program but we are encouraged to make offerings. Please register by Aug 24th, 2020.

2 ) Make offerings to the tsok
An important part of these practices is the feast offerings we make every day. This practice of "great giving without holding back" reverses our habitual self-centered psychology and can thus enable practitioners to overcome even our most tenacious obstacles. To cover the costs of hosting the practice from Pema Osel and for the tsok offerings we suggest a $25/day contribution.

3 ) Download the Liturgies -

Everyone who is taking part in the first three days of the Mahayoga Sadhana Retreat will need to download and print out the newly revised Chime Pakme Nyingtik liturgy. However, most people will not need to print out all the other files. The Rangjung Peme Nyingtik main text and inserts are included in the purple book that we always use during this program. Many people also have Riwo Sangcho, the long protector prayers, the long life prayers, Prayer for the World, and Prayer for Peace and Stability in the World. Also, the long protector prayers are included in the Chime Pakme Nyingtik liturgy, so there is no need to print them out twice.

It will be helpful to look at the two cheat sheets before the program.

How to participate in the practice from home
The best way to participate in this program is to do every session. If that isn’t possible, one can do any number of full days of practice. However, since every day is a complete practice, do not plan on joining for assorted sessions here and there.

On August 25, at 8 p.m. Eastern time, Joey Waxmanl lead a Zoom webinar to give people some basic information on how to do these practices. Watch it now on YouTube.
