Throughout Buddhist history, great masters would compose prayers for the welfare of sentient beings, especially in times of great distress. Anyone could recite these prayers. Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche has often said that the action of prayer is mysterious, but we have to have confidence it does make an impact. When we recite prayers and engage in heartfelt and personal aspirations, it lifts our heart with a sense of putting out a deep wish for change, well-being and the betterment of those we pray for. In support of the Black Lives Matter movement, we hope this prayer serves to alleviate the pain and improves the conditions of all who suffer from oppression and racial, gender and economic discrimination. Please download and integrate with your personal practice of aspirations and intention.

This prayer, A Prayer for Peace and Stability in the Word, was written by the great 19th century master, Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye.
